Appendectomy - Laparoscopic in Kansas

A laparoscopic appendectomy is a minimally-invasive surgical operation in which the appendix is removed. Appendectomy is normally performed as an urgent or emergency procedure to treat complicated acute appendicitis. This procedure is performed laparoscopically - A long, thin tube with a small camera (laparoscope) is put into an incision in the abdomen. Using the camera, the surgeon can see the inside of the abdomen and guide the tools to remove the appendix through one of the incisions.
