Carotid Ultrasound/Doppler

An carotid duplex ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of structures in the body. The ultrasound uses two modes of ultrasound imaging: one to see the structures of your carotid arteries, the other to see the speed and direction of blood flow in those arteries. This procedure is often done to check for narrowing or blockages of the carotid, which may increase your chances of having a stroke.
