A knee arthroscopy with synovectomy or chondroplasty is a minimally-invasive surgical procedure to repair and reshape cartilage in the knee. During the procedure, loose and redundant tissue is removed, including inflamed membrane surrounding the knee joint, called synovium, (synovectomy) and loose cartilage flaps (chondroplasty). Removal of damaged tissue allows healthy cartilage to be able to grow in its place.
