A parotid gland or lesion removal is a surgical procedure that involves the excision of one of the largest glands that produces saliva in the mouth. The doctor cuts around the facial nerves near the gland and removes it. This surgery is performed if a tumor forms in the parotid gland. Most tumors are benign (noncancerous), however they can be cancerous (malignant).
