PET/CT scan, also called positron emission tomography, is an imaging procedure that combines two methods (positron emission tomography and computed tomography) to take pictures of large parts of the body: the brain, the chest, or the entire body. These images give a very detailed view of the body part that they scan and allow the doctor to more accurately find abnormalities. This PET covers the use of the radiopharmaceutical fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) only.

If you are an established cardiology patient and you need to order a PET Scan from your cardiologist, please see Heart PET Scan.

Physician order required.
