Sacroiliac (SI) joint fusion is a surgical procedure to fuse the iliac bone (pelvis) to the spine (sacrum). The procedure is performed to improve stabilization and prevent abnormal movement between these bones. SI joint fusion may be recommended if the patient has significant low back, hip, or groin pain that makes it difficult to function in everyday life, or the patient's symptoms have not improved using nonsurgical methods.
