James A. Smith, LCMFT

James is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist who earned his Masters Degree from Kansas State University.

James has extensive experience in assisting families in their efforts to become healthy. While working for organizations such as DCCCA Family Preservation, Homes First Initiative, and Youthville, James worked directly with families in their homes to assist with marital and parenting issues.

James also has experience conducting team building workshops for businesses large and small. Some of his past clients include Sprint, Hallmark, IBM and MoDOT. His experience enables him to not only work with individuals, couples and families but also with large groups.

In addition to therapy, James is also able to speak on a variety of topics for retreats or workshops. He combines his faith, humor and love for families to assist with bringing joy to broken relationships and encouragement to strengthen and motivate change.

Frequently joining James in therapy sessions is his Therapy Dog in Training “Goldie”. She is an expert at lowering anxiety, elevating mood and just creating a loving environment. As a therapy dog, she knows how to win over kids and adults alike.
