An unilateral breast ultrasound is an imaging procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images that focuses on a specific area of one breast. It is often used to diagnose abnormalities already identified through physical exam or other imaging. However, it can also be performed as a supplement to a screening mammogram to better scan for abnormalities in dense breasts.
