Microdiscectomy (MLD)

A microdiscectomy is a surgical procedure to relieve pain and other symptoms that occur when a herniated disc in the spine presses on an adjacent nerve root. During the operation, the surgeon frees the nerve by removing small fragments of disc, bone, and ligament. This procedure is performed when an individual has a herniated disc in the lower back that is causing symptoms that may include weakness, pain, or tingling in the back and in one of the legs.
