Orthopedic Implant Removal
An orthopedic implant removal is the removal of a superficial or deep orthopedic device (e.g. buried wire, pin, screw, metal band, nail, rod, or plate). Infection, hardware failure, and pain are common reasons why an orthopedic implant needs to be removed. Other indications for removal are implant failure, bone resorption due to excessive stress shielding, and the patient's will.
